Classification Introduction
  • The tribe Macronini Lacordaire, 1868 currently contains 15 species in 4 genera. Photographs of 2 exemplar specimens are currently available for this tribe.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Body size variable, from moderate (10-40 mm) to large-sized (more than 40 mm); generally elongate. Head shape variable, distinctly elongate, forming a muzzle or not. Eyes generally reniform, complete (not completely divided into upper and lower lobes). Antennae generally filiform, unarmed; antennae 11-segmented, antennal length variable, from short (not extending beyond tip of abdomen) to long (extending beyond tip of abdomen). Pronotum generally elongate (distinctly longer than wide); lateral margins of pronotum with distinct blunt tubercles. Elytral length variable, from brachypterous (distinctly shorter than abdomen) to about as long as abdomen (not distinctly shorter); elytral shape variable, distinctly acuminate (forming an acute point) or not; elytral apices without distinct spines.
