Classification Introduction
  • The tribe Mythodini Lacordaire, 1868 currently contains 7 species in 4 genera. Photographs of 1 exemplar specimen are currently available for this tribe.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Body moderate-sized, between 10-40 mm; generally elongate. Eyes generally reniform, complete (not completely divided into upper and lower lobes). Antennae generally filiform, unarmed; antennae 11-segmented, antennal length variable, from short (not extending beyond tip of abdomen) to long (extending beyond tip of abdomen); antennae with distinct tufts of setae (hairs). Pronotum generally elongate (distinctly longer than wide); lateral margins of pronotum variable, with distinct blunt tubercles or acute spines, or unarmed. Elytral apices without distinct spines. Metafemoral length generally distinctly longer than profemora; metafemora variable, with tufts of setae (hairs) or not.
