Glenea fasciata

Classification Diagnostic Features of Larvae
  • Mature larva. Extremely similar to that ofGlenea giraffa, from which it may be distinguished by the abdominal setae which are stout and ferruginous. Pupa. Resembling those of the Phytoeciini, from which it differs as follows. Length up to 15.5 mm; maximum breadth 7.1 mm. Head entirely visible from above, feebly excavate and with one or two pairs of stout spines between bases of antennae; front with scattered short spines (each with a basal seta); clypeus with a transverse impression and two pairs of stout setae across base. Antennae extending as far as abdominal segment 2, where they are strongly curved downwards and recurved to terminate alongside bases of front femora. Eyes fiat, glabrous. Mandibles each with three stout setae near middle of outer face. Labrum with six setae across base. Pronotum bearing several scattered, short, stout spines (each with a long basal seta). Mesonotum and metanotum bearing several similar spines. Elytra and wings extending to abdominal segment 5. Abdomen with tergites 1-6 each with a transverse group of slender spines (each with a basal seta). Sternites 4-6 glabrous. Legs with hind femora extending to abdominal segment 6.
