Classification Introduction
  • The tribe Xylosteini Reitter, 1913 currently contains ~22 species in 7 genera. Photographs of exemplar specimens will be available soon.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Body size variable, from small (less than 10 mm) to moderate-sized (between 10-40 mm); generally elongate; without metallic reflection. Antennae filiform; antennae variable in length, from short (not extending beyond tip of abdomen) to long (extending beyond tip of abdomen). Pronotum shape cylindrical (distinctly longer than wide); lateral margins of pronotum variable, armed with distinct blunt tubercles or acute spines.
