Classification Diagnostic Features of Larvae
  • Mature larva. Similar to that of Ergates faber, from which it differs as-follows: Head with frons distinctly and completely ferruginous. Front margin of frons with outer pair of teeth projecting well beyond inner pair. Legs with unguiculus pitchy for at least basal half.

    Pupa. Similar to that of E. faber, Egg. Length 3.1 mm; breadth 1.45 mm. Form ovoid, with one end bluntly tapering, the other more strongly tapering and truncate apically. Chorion light brown and covered with dark brown, coarse reticulation. Adapted from Duffy (1953).
