  • The tribe Acanthophorini Thomson, 1864 currently contains ~15 species in 6 genera. Photographs of 4 exemplar specimens are currently available for this tribe.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Head very large in male; epistoma strongly transverse; antennae with scape slightly longer than wide, poriferous system of antennomeres not striate; labrum triangular; mandibles horizontal, in males very long, falciform; lateral edge of prothorax with three spiny teeth; prosternal process does not penetrate the mesosternum (Lameere, 1919).
