Anacolini

Classification Introduction
  • The tribe Anacolini Thomson, 1857 currently contains ~70 species in 29 genera. Photographs of 21 exemplar specimens are currently available for this tribe.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Length from 6-33 mm. Elongate, somewhat depressed dorso-ventrally or enlarged. Head as wide as or wider than long. Labrum narrow, fused or not to the epistoma. Antenna in male long or short; in female always shorter than in male; usually with 11 segments (sometimes with 8 or 12). Lateral edge of pronotum unarmed or with projections. Elytra wider than pronotum, elongate, covering or not covering the abdomen. Membranous wings present (except in females of Prionapterus). Femora variable from linear to fusiform, subequal in length or with metafemora longer. Tarsi frequently short (Galileo, 1987).
