Introduction

The tribe Oxypeltini Lacordaire, 1868 currently has 3 species in 2 genera. Photographs of all described species are available for this tribe. This small family has traditionally been classified as a subfamily of Cerambycidae.

Diagnostic Features of Adults

Robust, glabrous and brightly colored beetles, with moderately long antennae on raised insertions (Lawrence, 2007).
Length 15-34 mm. Antenna 11-segmented, serrate. Insertions exposed. Prosternal process complete. Procoxae not projecting, with exposed trochantins. Procoxal cavities strongly transverse, externally and internally closed. Mesocoxal cavities moderately widely separated, laterally open. Tarsi pseudotetramerous. Abdomen with 5 free ventrites. Prothorax distinctly narrower than elytral bases; lateral pronotal carinae absent (but flattened, dorsolateral processes in Cheloderus); elytral apices each with 2 spines (Lawrence, 2007).
