Classification Introduction
  • The tribe Calocomini Galileo & Martins, 1993 currently contains 5 species in 1 genus. Photographs of 1 exemplar specimen are currently available for this tribe.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Head with distinct frontal sulcus. Gena subtriangular, distal edge subacuminate or acute. Gula wide depressed. Mandibles somewhat asymmetric, elongate. Galea as long as maxillary palpomere IV. Antennae with variable number of antennomeres, usually with 11-13 (sometimes with 20-22); in males reaching about middle of elytra; in females reaching about basal third; antennomeres III-X flabellate in males; poriferous system with setae on outside of antennomeres and on flabello. Prothorax wider than long; anterior angles projected; lateral margins crenulate, oblique up to central spine, emarginate up to posterior angle. Scutellum triangular. Humeral width larger than prothorax; elytral lateral margins slightly narrowed towards apex; apical edge rounded. Metafemora longer than the other. Tarsomere V longer than I-IV together (Galileo & Martins, 1993).
