Classification Introduction
  • The tribe Solenopterini Lacordaire, 1868 currently contains ~47 species in 7 genera. Photographs of 3 exemplar specimens are currently available for this tribe.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Head projected, well visible in front of prothorax. Mandibles short, without sexual dimorphism. Frons depressed close to the clypeus, that depression usually with an elevate area, smoother and shining. Eyes finely faceted, emarginate; superior ocular lobes always apart. Antennae with 11 segments, short, usually not reaching middle of elytra, similar in both sexes. Prothorax frequently wider than long. Anterior legs usually slightly shorter than the others; femora from fusiform to sublinear (Galileo &l Martins, 1993).
