Classification Introduction
  • The tribe Atimiini LeConte, 1873 currently contains 15 species in 3 genera. Photographs of 1 exemplar specimen are currently available for this tribe.
Diagnostic Features of Adults
  • Mesoscutum with divided stridulatory file. Mesocoxal cavities at middle moderately to widely separated. Mesotarsus with 4 distinct tarsomeres and reduced penultimate one (pseudotetramerous). Procoxal cavities externally narrowly closed. Head without elongate rostrum (Lawrence, 2007).
Diagnostic Features of Larvae
  • Larva. Head not very salient, depressed, widest slightly behind middle; Labrum transverse, fleshy; mandibles more slender than those of Tetropium, apical and dorsal portions of cutting edge rounded, latter slightly toothed; genal setae very long and slender; one pair of ocelli. Pronotum very finely velvety behind except for an irregular central area. Ampullae glabrous, shining, fourth, fifth and sixth deeply bilobed, giving abdomen a four sided form. Caudal spines short, acute, incurved, separated more than twice their length. Adapted from Craighead (1923).
