Eugenia dysenterica DC., Prodr. 3:268 (1828).
Leaves of cagaita or cagaiteira are sold in the potpourri trade as “cagaita leaf.” Leaves are short-petiolate, glabrous and shiny (in fresh state) on the upper surface, leathery, with visible nerves, oblong, base rounded, tip broadly acute, 4-9 cm long x 3-5 cm wide.
Eugenia dysenterica is native to Brazil.
