Salvertia convallariodora A. St. Hil., Mem. Mus. Par. 6: 277 (1820).
The fruits of bate-caixa are sometimes encountered in higher-end potpourri. These tripartite capsules, usually fragmented in potpourri, are angled and dehiscent with long-winged seeds (samaras). The individual pieces (valves) of the capsule are 4.5-5 cm long x 2-2.5 cm wide, the edges often curled or undulate, somewhat resembling tongues (ligulate), the interior shiny and smooth.
Salvertia convallariodora is native to Brazil.
