Zea mays L., Sp. Pl. 2: 971 (1753).
Small cobs of Indian corn or strawberry popcorn, 5-14 cm long, occasionally appear in potpourri. Slices of corncobs, 3-4 cm in diameter, are more common as a filler and reservoir (“physical fixative”) for the synthetic oils added to potpourri.
Zea mays is only known from cultivation.
