This weevil is a pest of the following plants: found on members of the Lamiaceae family, particularly Ocimum (basil). The following are hosts where A. obliquus has been intercepted; however, its host range is unknown.

This weevil has been intercepted in shipments of Mexican herbs from September through February. Though commercial cargo appears to be the main risk pathway, passenger baggage may also be a significant pathway of concern.
