Carinula may be confused with bees within Callomegachile, as they were both previously combined under Megachile (Callomegachile), and they share a number of features including the shape of T6T6:
the segments on the top side of the abdomen, often abbreviated when referring to a specific segment to T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, or T7
in males and mandiblemandible:
bee teeth, so to speak, usually crossed and folded in front of the mouth
