Morphology-based identification
Zeugodacus trimaculatus can be identified reliably based on morphological characters. Spot characters are the two pairs of setae on the scutellum and a posterior dark mark on the scutellum.

Zeugodacus trimaculatus is only known from the Philippines, which is its presumed native distribution.
