Lucid Keys

The Lucid keys linked below support identification of adult cerambycoid specimens to family, subfamily, and tribe. There is also a key to help you determine the family and subfamily of larval specimens. Please consult Using the Longicorn ID keys to learn tips and caveats before using these keys. For more specific guidelines on using the Lucid interactive key platform, please review the Lucid best practices.

Six of the cerambycoid subfamilies only include one or two tribes. These taxa include links directly to the tribe fact sheets instead of to keys, or (for one subfamily) to a page that helps in distinguishing its two tribes.

When using the keys, you will need access to a dissecting microscope with strong lighting, in order to see morphological details such as the shape of the prosternal process.
