The "other than the above" and "absent" states indicate that roots do not occur in a particular genus; you should not use either of these states merely if your specimen does not happen to have roots on it (if, for example, it is a cutting). If roots are not present on your specimen, use this feature with caution. Aquatic plants that lack roots usually float or are submergedsubmerged:
