A new web site for identifying seeds in trade and regulatory contexts
ITP is pleased to announce the release of SeedImages in collaboration with Colorado State University’s Colorado Seed Program. The site is designed to facilitate the identification of seeds encountered in trade, including crops, their look-alikes, and frequently encountered weeds.
SeedImages includes morphological trait data and high quality images for more than 1,400 crop, weed, and noxious weed seed species. The site provides comprehensive coverage of all species necessary for analyst certification examinations, as well as all noxious weed seed species listed by U.S. states.
SeedImages offers a suite of practical tools for students, researchers, seed analysts, conservationists, and regulatory officials working within agricultural and conservation industries. Features include illustrated fact sheets, a filterable image gallery, and an annotated glossary. The resource is intended to support both field and laboratory identification, helping users navigate the complexities of seed identification and regulatory requirements.
SeedImages joins ITP’s expanding suite of online identification resources, supporting PPQ’s mission to safeguard U.S. agriculture and natural resources. Explore the world of seeds for food, feed, reclamation, and conservation at https://idtools.org/seedimages/.
